Crafting a High-End Retail Experience: The AP Group & Yves Delorme Collaboration

For a brand synonymous with Parisian luxury, a physical retail space must be more than just a store; it must be an experience. It needs to echo the quality, elegance, and heritage of the products within it. This was the challenge and privilege presented to us by Yves Delorme, the world-renowned purveyor of fine linens, for the complete renovation of their boutique on Hinde Street, in the heart of London’s Marylebone. AP Group was tasked with a comprehensive, “back-to-brick” refit, designed to transform the location into a true flagship worthy of the brand.

The Challenge: A Vision of Modern Elegance

The existing boutique required a complete overhaul to align with the brand’s evolving vision. The goal wasn’t simply to redecorate but to fundamentally reshape the customer experience. This meant a full-scale renovation, starting with a complete strip-out of every existing fixture, fitting, floor, and ceiling. We needed to create a blank canvas upon which a sophisticated, modern, and highly functional retail environment could be built, all while operating in a busy central London location.

Our Solution: A Foundation of Quality

Great design is built on a flawless foundation. Our first step after the demolition phase was to construct the new “bones” of the store. This began with the installation of a new British GypCeiling MF suspended ceiling. This system provided two key benefits: it allowed us to create a perfectly level and clean ceiling plane, and it provided the necessary void to strategically house relocated air conditioning units and the complex wiring for a new, multi-layered lighting scheme. The entire 56m² surface was then finished with a two-coat plaster system, ensuring a pristine surface for decoration.

On the floor, we laid Marazzi Ceramic Fusaro 60×60 tiles in Beige. These large-format tiles are not only incredibly durable and suited for a high-traffic retail environment, but they also create a sense of spaciousness and understated elegance. Meticulous preparation of the subfloor and the use of DITRA matting ensure a perfect, long-lasting finish that flows seamlessly throughout the space.

Flawless Finishes:

The walls were decorated with Benjamin Moore’s “Spring in Aspen”, a warm and inviting off-white that creates a soft, gallery-like feel, allowing the client’s products to take centre stage. The woodwork, including doors and skirtings, was finished in durable Crown Satin paint, providing a crisp contrast.

Our commitment to a high-quality finish extended to the shop front, which was completely redecorated to create a stunning first impression.

Layered Lighting Design:

Lighting is crucial in shaping ambiance. We installed a comprehensive new electrical system to power a sophisticated lighting plan. This included Tamlite Sonata track spotlights to provide flexible, targeted illumination for merchandise, elegant client-supplied chandeliers to act as focal points, and wall lights to add warmth and depth.

Precision Installation:

A key part of this project was the installation of furniture, joinery, and signage supplied by the client. These bespoke, high-value items required absolute precision. Our team meticulously scribed and fitted every shelving unit, cupboard, and display, ensuring a seamless, integrated look that appears custom-built for the space.
