Project: Bespoke Glazing for Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) is a major destination in the region’s healthcare landscape. It opened in June 2010 and was Birmingham’s first new acute hospital in 70 years.
The hospital is located in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston and combines services previously provided at the older Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the nearby Selly Oak Hospital.
The QEHB is renowned for its clinical expertise in treating trauma patients and military casualties, and it hosts the UK’s only £20m National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology Research Centre (SRMRC).
The Project
AP Construction Group was entrusted with supplying bespoke glazing for a reception desk at the QEHB. This project allowed us to showcase our commitment to delivering high-quality finishes, great value, and fast turnarounds for hospital trusts around the Midlands.
The Challenge
Working within a healthcare environment presents unique challenges, including minimising disruption to critical services and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
As one of the first points of contact for patients and visitors, the reception desk needed the glazing to be functional, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.
The Solution
Our team worked closely with the hospital staff to understand their needs and designed a solution meeting their requirements. The bespoke glazing added a touch of elegance to the existing desk while ensuring durability and ease of maintenance.
We managed the project meticulously to ensure on-time delivery while adhering to our high standards of workmanship.
The Outcome
The reception desk with bespoke glazing was well-received by the hospital staff and visitors. It enhanced the reception area’s aesthetics and provided a functional workspace for the hospital staff.
This project further cemented our reputation for delivering high-quality finishes on time and within budget.
